At the stroke of 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, Mayor Jan van Zanen and political reporter Frits Wester were the first to jump into the new pool at the Max Health Club facility on Westvlietweg together. At an earlier official remodeling event at Max Health Club Aan de Vliet this year, the men agreed to also make an “official splash” in the water. To their word they have kept. Starting next week, the former Westvliet Fitness & Racket Club will provide swimming fun for the whole family and therefore opens up on Sunday, October 1
for anyone curious.
That the first lanes were drawn in the new pool by the mayor and political reporter is, of course, special. No matter how busy men are, they certainly do make time to exercise. Jan van Zanen likes to swim his familiar 500 meters every weekday, regularly using the other Max Health Club facility at Sportpark Klein Zwitserland. Frits Wester is still training at Max Health Club Aan de Vliet despite the preparations for his participation in Expedition Robinson 2023 are already over.
Starting in October, both locations will offer both sports and swimming, and the new pool will also serve as a swimming school at the second location for children to earn their A, B or C diplomas. There are no queues to get swimming lessons; you can already claim your spot in a swimming class. Now that the completion of the pool has taken place, an updated gym and revamped group exercise rooms will follow in the fall.
